Chris Cook Announced As New President Following Retirement of Mark Dillon

News

ADC is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Cook, PE, LEED AP, as President of the firm, effective following the retirement of longtime president Mark Dillon.

Cook joined ADC Engineering in 1996 and is a founding partner of the firm’s Civil department. Over nearly three decades with ADC, he has played a central role in the company’s growth, technical leadership, and project delivery across the Southeast and nationwide.

“Chris has been instrumental in shaping ADC into the firm it is today,” said Mark Dillon. “His leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to collaboration make him the right person to lead ADC into its next chapter.”

A graduate of The Citadel with a degree in civil engineering, Cook is licensed in more than 28 states and U.S. territories and has managed projects throughout the country. His experience spans K-12 schools, higher education facilities, federal, state and municipal projects, retail developments, and mixed-use communities. He has completed more than 30 large design-build projects for Department of Defense clients.

Cook has served as Chairman of The Citadel’s Civil Engineering Advisory Board and is currently Chairman Emeritus. He is known for his work on large, fast-paced projects that require innovative design approaches, complex technical solutions, and close coordination among owners, architects, contractors, and engineering teams.

As part of this leadership transition, ADC Engineering is also announcing updates within its Structural Department. Jimmy Jones will take on the role of overall head of the Structural Department, in addition to serving as Structural Leader for both the Columbia and Greenville offices. Chris Gilger will assume the role of Structural Leader for the Charleston office. Both bring a wealth of experience and strong leadership that will help guide and strengthen ADC’s Structural team moving forward.

“As president, I look forward to building on the strong foundation Mark and our leadership team have established,” said Cook. “ADC has an exceptional group of professionals, and I am excited to continue serving our clients while investing in our people and the future of the firm.”

Mark Dillon retired in December 2025 after a distinguished career marked by steady growth, long-standing client relationships, and a strong company culture. He will remain closely connected to the firm during the transition.
